Photography is Expensive

Leave it to me to choose an interest that costs a lot of money. And you really can’t skimp corners when it comes to photography either. Sure…maybe you don’t need the absolute best when ur starting out, but even the medium range can be costly, especially considering the current economic climate.

Just the other day I was calculating the financial investment to buy the coveted XSi. Life would be great if all I needed was dslr camera. Unfortunately, that’s a far cry from the truth. I need the camera, 2 lenses (general and macro), tripod, bag, memory card, new storage drive since I will now need to handle RAW images. Oh, and did I tell you I also need a large format printer. Yeah, yeah…it will all be worth the investment is what I’ve been told. But do you recall that gas is $4/ gallon. And do you know what that means….it means that even my pathetic, 4 cylinder, blue Ford Escort is costing me $40 for a full tank of gas. ARGH…

Yet…it really is necessary for me to upgrade. You like my work now? Imagine the image quality with the new XSi baby. So I shall sacrifice for you…yes…the customer (past, present and future). You like how I put the needs of my customers above everything else. Or maybe I’m just excited myself to start playing in the sandbox instead of wistfully looking at everyone else building their sand castles.
